    Hi everyone,

Mr Manley, sanitarian with the NJDH is in process of revising Chapter 24/ sanitation regs. for NJ. He is working with several people who include the pres. of Nj Dietary Managers association whom contacted me.  Do we want any clarification as to a reg. or something more to be included? Please get back to me ASAP so I can get your concern to Mr. Manley.

The Petition submitted to the Obama administration to have CMS reconsider its decision excluding Registered Dietitians from direct billing for Obesity Therapy has received more than the 25,000 signatures needed to move ahead.  Thank you to all the DHCC members who signed, forwarded the information to colleagues and family members!
Where does it go from here?  As stated in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics’ Eatright Weekly:We did it! White House petition reaches 25,000 signatures Members of the Academy responded across the US to reach the required number of signatures for the White House petition asking the president to urge the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to reconsider its decision the excluded dietitians as billable providers for intensive behavioral therapy for obesity.  What is next?
The Academy has already begun to prepare for the next step which could include communication or a meeting with the Obama Administration.  Now that the petition has reached the signatures, the Administration will contact the Government Relations team in the Academy’s Washington, D.C. office.
In addition, the Academy is working with members of Congress to also urge CMS to reconsider its decision.  If you haven’t sent a letter  to your members of Congress, please take action today!

Thanks again for all your help! Cynthia Piland, MS, RD, CSG, LDDHCC Chair 2011-12 Angela Sader, MBA, RD, LDDHCC Public Policy Coordinator

    Hi friends,

Thankyou for the lovely flowers and good wishes at the last meeting.  I'm in Arizona now.  I found a job with Anna DeJesus of Nutrition Alliance- the website is She won the DHCC Distinguished Member award at FNCE in Boston.  It is quite a progressive company and I expect to learn a lot.  I will be a private contractor with the company doing the usual.  I will have a few of my own accounts, do coverage, mock surveys.  I will travel to do some accounts 1xmonth, or 1xquarter.  It seems I will do high risk.  All accounts have a diet tech- most with 4 yr degrees, some dtr's who do a lot of what RD's in NJ do.   I mentioned that that would never fly in NJ.  Medicare cuts have been deep and it is not likely that it will change.  I have had an offer from a similar company with the same situation.  I interviewed with Fresnius- asked for $30/hr- " no one makes that much"  was the response.  Unfortunetely, I will make 1/2 of what I made in NJ.

I found a nice 2 bedroom/bath, fireplace, patio, washer/dryer for $800.  The car insurance will be less because AZ does not have mandatory no fault or medical coverage.  The gas is about the same as NJ, as well as cable, electric, food and WINE.

Also, they already do QIS surveys here.  So far I know it is important to not get into phase II.

That's it so far.  Start work Wednesday.

My new address is 6599 E Thomas Rd,# 2112, Scottsdale, AZ 85251.  same phone and email.
